Yes it's true folks.

Its funny how things turned out. One minute we were all cribbing about the delays and Sophie in general, and the next minute, a release date surfaced on Universal Russia. Two days later, Sophie confirmed it. What a fantastic turn of events.

"Yes it's true folks. Album out in Russia first, then rest of Europe. UK end of May," she wrote on Twitter, "Other countries release dates to follow. As ever, watch this space." I have said this before, and i will say it again. ANYTHING can happen in Sophie world.

Now i wish to make a sincere request to all my readers and followers. You will be tempted to download a CDRip, and even if you do, please go out and buy a copy or two for yourselves. Please support Sophie. I will buy two copies of the album - one physical, and one from iTunes when it is released in the UK, even if there are no bonus tracks on it.

Sophie's 4th record will be out in Spring 2011.

Sophie was on BBC Radio Leicester this morning. Here are the highlights :
Touring next month
Setlist is gonna be all the singles, some stuff from the new record, some covers.
Situation with the new album - will be released in Spring (around April)

I made a fairly large post about my thoughts on PopJustice. I'll just quote the same thing here. But what are your thoughts?

I don't think she is blaming the DJs. Didn't someone here say that the project was going to have singles as DJ feat SEB etc., Seems like that was true. She confirmed that, well, sort of... Had Polydor not stopped Roger Sanchez from using that song she did with him, we would have a single now, and she wouldn't have said that.

The good thing is that she knows where she is and it's not like she believes she can still get away with a Christmas release. I appreciate her honesty for that. April release - i suppose i understand why she wants the album out in Spring. Remember, it was supposed to be out in Spring back when Sophia Loren was planned to be the lead single. It's a dance album, it wouldn't make much sense to release it in the winter when no one will care about it, unless of couse, it's something like Loud. There's your perfect winter dance album. Judging by Bittersweet, Not Giving Up On Love, Can't Fight This Feeling and Heartbreak Make Me A Dancer, i think the album is filled with summer anthems.

I hate to wait, just like any other person in this thread, but i think i will be okay with it eventually. We have waited 3 years. A few months really shouldn't matter that much. But i do hope and pray we have a single or two between now and the album. And hopefully that won't be CFTF....

I can think of several reasons for this delay:
1. Polydor have no interest in taking risks with her, so they want her to make enough money from her gigs and use that to fund this release.
2. My theory about a summer dance album
3. She intends on recording new songs
4. Polydor want people to disassociate the album with Bittersweet (which is tragic. so what if it flopped. it's the highlight of 2010 and deserves to be on the album. if it doesn't make it to the final cut, i will be very very disappointed)
5. Fascination couldn't really do much, but Polydor FINALLY have a plan in mind and they want to go about it that way
6. She has no record label and she is trying to release this on her own.

Sophie's 4th album will be out in November (according to Russian TV)

A Russian fan posted this on PopJustice:
"Last weekend Sophie was in Russia on privacy party. Yesterday I saw news from this party on TV and in the end they said that album will out in NOVEMBER"

Last i heard from someone, they were fixing schedules. Let's not forget, she has a charity gig in November. If Wallace Productions can line up some more PAs for her, she might be able to pull off a single release, followed by the album.

We're not actually clear as to what is going on with the album right now because Peter Loraine is splitting ways with Fascination. Fascination Records will still be a print on Polydor's label, but there has been no official word if Sophie is going to get absorbed back into Polydor, or if she will leave with Loraine. Afterall, Sophie has been Loraine's pet project for 10 years now!

All this is pure speculation. The one thing we do know is that Sophie is promoting the album heavily in Russia. In fact, she is going to be there for four consecutive weekends:
"In Yaroslavl for a show tonight. The first of four consecutive weekends in Russia. Putting the visa to good use..."

Sophie also tweeted about a band called Bertolf covering her latest single with Armin Van Buuren. Here's the live performance on youtube - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6V85_Z8qhIM

I'm not the biggest fan of it, but Sophie seems to like it. They don't really do justice to the emotion in the song. It was a good attempt though.

new Sophie single this October?

HMV lists Sophie's album as 5-10-2009.

And my inside source said that we might have a new single out in 2009 followed by another single in 2010. So what HMV listed is probably the new single! I'll wait for an official confirmation before i get excited about it.

If there was a new single coming in October, then Sophie would undoubtedly hype it from now. So maybe November...

Sophie posted this on her twitter:
"just had great meeting. we are going to redo my whole online persona! new website ahoy! 'bout blooming time.."
So they're probably going to re-do the website shortly. I don't like what they did during the Trip era.. its more art than Sophie.. there's just a tiny pic of Sophie somewhere in the news and the rest of it is the sky and flowers and stuff.. pretty neat, but its not Sophie. I wish the glam up the site with pictures of Sophie etc., Rimmel did a better job putting Sophie on their background than Sophie's official website! Sheesh...

(thats another cover which i made just for fun, lets have some fun shall we. Design your covers and post your pictures, and i'll post your covers in my next post and credit you for it)

more details on Heartbreak's release

I'm loving all this hype for the single. I don't think Freemasons or Sophie have ever done this in the past. Its nice to know they're taking the extra mile to ensure this hits the charts.

The song has already been added to the C-list this week on Galaxy, and hit #1 on the Cool Cuts chart.

But it isn't going to get a release anytime soon. The release date has been pushed back to 21st June. Here's what the Freemasons had to say on their MySpace blog:

"First of all apologies for not being in touch recently - we had such an amazing time in Australia at Mardi Gras and across the continent in some great clubs and ever since we got back it's been go go go to get the single ready, do the video (although that was mainly Sophie to be fair!), get cracking on our mix album 'Shakedown 2' and also start writing and producing for a very special lady (but we can't say who yet...). Anyway here is the sleeve for 'Heartbreak (Make Me A Dancer)' , how gorgeous does Sophie look? Believe us when we say she is exactly the same in person. The release date has had to be put back just a week, it's now 21st June, because the video is taking much longer than anticipated - there's loads of post-production special effects being done to make it look spectacular. Can't wait? Neither can we!"

They have also added a snippet of the song on their MySpace. I'm not too sure about the beginning of the song, its very brash. To be honest, i preferred the way the demo opened slowly with a beat. I hope the final radio edit has a good opening.

This is going to be massive! YAY!!

More about "Sophia", the new single

Short recap:
1. The record will definitely be out in January 2009
2. Off & On or Heartbreak Make Me A Dancer won't be singles, at least not the first one
3. She has lots of new material which she likes more
4. The 2nd Rimmel ad will features the new single as the backing song
5. A release shortly after New Years eve has been confirmed for the new single from the 4th album, cos its much too early to present it to the public

Moving on to the good news:
SOPHIA WILL BE RELEASED ON JAN 9, 2009. We have a date, finally!! The video shoot for the single will commence in November (end) and will hit the telly in December (mid/end).

And now the bad news:
Off & On and Heartbreak may not be on the final cut of the album... This is their worst decision since Dear Jimmy didn't make it onto the final cut of TTLF. I hope they decide to leave those two songs on the album. They are perfect!!
