Sophie is suddenly very very ambitious

We all know modeling is a ridiculously competitive industry, but Rimmel model Sophie Ellis-Bextor, 30, took her commitment to her job to a whole new level. Just nine days after giving birth to her premature son via C-section, Sophie got back to work.

Now, to be fair, it's not like she was modeling lingerie or anything -- she was at the studio with her husband, Richard Jones, to help write a single for his band, The Feeling. The band's lead singer said, "Sophie was in with us to pen a duet. She's recovered from the operation and looks great."

Hopefully Sophie does not set the bar for all other celebs, the celeb world is a tad bit crazy. As happy as i am that Sophie is working again, i wish she does take enough time to care for her family, cos that makes her happy. And if she's happy, she can concentrate more on her work, and we'll get quality material.

I'm not sure if this duet is going to be on Sophie's upcoming album, or if its a single for The Feeling (read what Dan said again, you'll know what i mean).

Anyway, there was a bit about Kit's name, how the media finds it funny...
WHAT is it with celebrities and baby names?

Ever since FIFI TRIXIBELLE GELDOF was born, there seems to have been an ongoing competition as to who can give their child the most ridiculous name, from APPLE MARTIN to SUNDAY ROSE KIDMAN.

Now SOPHIE ELLIS-BEXTOR and her husband, THE FEELING’s guitarist RICHARD JONES, are the latest to join this merry band by calling their second son KIT VALENTINE.

They introduced him to the world for the first time yesterday since his birth in February.

Poor little mite.
Imagine the stick he’s going to get when he is a bit older and goes to school.
Look how tiny he is, and the couple look so happy! Sophie looks healthy!!

Heartbreak Make Me A Dancer - Sophie & Freemasons

The "RADIO EDIT" of the Freemasons song leaked and it sounds EXACTLY the same as the version that Sophie had uploaded onto her MySpace a year ago (it has been that long right?!?) Some people say that there is a version which is 30 seconds shorter which is the radio, which i can't seem to find on the internet, but apparently, it still sounds the same, only shorter.

This brings one thought to my head, if the version is exactly the same, then will this be a mutual single?? There are rumours that Sophie might feature in the video, if she is, then i'm sure this will end up becoming a mutual single and it will perform really well. The Freemasons 9 minute club mix of the song hasn't leaked yet, but i'm really looking forward to it. I also wish BitRocka would release his mix of this song (check his myspace for a snippet of his mix, its the third song on his playlist)

I hope we get the single in two formats:

FREEMASONS FEAT. SOPHIE ELLIS-BEXTOR - HEARTBREAK MAKE ME A DANCER
1. Heartbreak Make Me A Dancer (Radio Edit)
2. Heartbreak Make Me A Dancer (Club Mix)

SOPHIE ELLIS-BEXTOR FEAT. FREEMASONS - HEARTBREAK MAKE ME A DANCER
1. Heartbreak Make Me A Dancer (Radio Edit)
2. Heartbreak Make Me A Dancer (BitRocka Remix)

By the way, i wonder what happened to "Can't Fight This Feeling"....

The new Freemasons single

I feared this. The Freemasons mix is really really good, but now people are going to rant about how Sophie is trying for a Groovejet Part 2 entry, with a huge club song hitting the charts and bringing her own album with that... PopJustice already said it:

This is a bit complicated so pay attention: it's a song Sophie did with the Freemasons and Biff, and it was going to be a Sophie single (and she put one version on her MySpace), but then Real Life took over (by real life we mean babies and makeup advertisements) so now it's going to be a Freemasons single - coming out through their label, rather than Sophie's - featuring Sophie as the guest vocalist.

We suppose the idea would probably be for Sophie to have her vocals on a massive crossover club record and then, with the wind behind her, to launch her pop career off the back of it. Can't see that working etc etc etc.

I wanna stick up my middle finger to them (PJ). Sophie does NOT (repeat DOES NOT) require a huge hit with this song, her album will do fine even if this flops. Don't forget, its a Sophie song. Freemasons are only releasing it cos Sophie is going to take time and they probably don't have anything fresh and new to release so they are just mixing an old song.

Lets face facts:
FREEMASONS' TRACK RECORD:
1. Love On My Mind (#11)
2. Watchin (#19)
3. Rain Down Love (#12)
4. Nothing But Heartache (did not even chart)
5. Uninvited (#8)
6. When You Touch Me (#23)

SOPHIE'S TRACK RECORD:
1. Take Me Home (#2)
2. Murder On The Dancefloor (#2)
3. Get Over You / Move This Mountain (#3)
4. Music Gets The Best Of Me (#14)
5. Mixed Up World (#7)
6. I Won't Change You (#9)
7. Catch You (#8)
8. Me And My Imagination (#23)
9. Today The Sun's On Us (#64)

So if Heartbreak Make Me A Dancer would do really really well, like top 5 or top 3, it would only be because of Sophie (hands down!) Busface charted at #96 only because Sophie was featured on the song, none of their other singles charted!

The song (otherwise) is pretty good, from the 1 minute clip that i heard on PopJustice. I hope the radio edit is not so overdone. I still love the original to death. Sophie sounds brilliant on the original, the new mix on PopJustice has Sophie's vocals set behind all the instrumentation and sound effects, so thats what is making it sound overdone.

And like PopJustice said:

It does, of course, sound like quite a few other Freemasons tracks and mixes. In some sort of parallel World Of Wrong this might be seen as a bad thing: on Planet Popjustice it means we've got a track which sounds like EVERY AMAZING FREEMASONS SONG EVER. It's like a greatest hits album all in one song. 'Beautiful Liar'. 'Ring The Alarm'. 'Uninvited'. 'Some Of The Others Ones'. ALL IN ONE GO.

But they only missed Rain Down Love, that was one hell of a song.. You can listen to the clip on PopJustice. It's their "song of the week"

Good News: The old songs will be on her upcoming album

A friend (Wex) received this email from fascination confirming that both HMMAD and OAO will feature on Sophie's album. But we're not sure which version of HMMAD will be on her album.

Hi Wextor,
thanks for your email. The final track listing for Sophie's upcoming album hasn't yet been finalized, but I am fairly certain that Synchronized, Heartbreak Make Me A Dancer and Off And On will all make it on there. As for future singles, this hasn't yet been discussed.

I hope this helps answer your questions. Best regards,

Adam Klein
Fascination Records Label Assistant

This is a good thing for Sophie imo. If the single does well, its like the debut single from her album is a hit. I only hope that she is featured in the video. It wouldn't make sense including it on her album without Sophie in the video.

For those who have missed everything...

Well, last year Sophie was all set to release a GH album with 10 singles plus 2 new songs - Heartbreak Make Me A Dancer (recorded with The Freemasons) and Off & On (recorded with Calvin Harris). She continued recording more songs working with Richard X and a few other producers and her record company were impressed with her new material, so they decided to release another album instead. Eventually she uploaded both these songs onto her MySpace so everyone could listen and comment (both songs are offline now).

Split Second Love, the original title of the album, was scheduled for a release early this year but it got pushed back because Sophie got pregnant (she's not anymore. She gave birth 9 weeks early, and both baby and mother are doing alright. God bless) and prior to that she was busy modeling for Rimmel London. Sophie recorded a bunch of tracks including Sophia Loren, which was co-written with Cathy Dennis and produced by Christopher Rojas. The song also features as a back-track on one of the Rimmel ads. A snippet of the song leaked online (which i've been listening to lately, cos i'm really bored and i want new Sophie material out). Sophie decided to release this song as a single, and started to film a video for it, but then they had to stop because she was pregnant and couldn't carry on with the pressure.

Richard X posted on his site that he was still working on the middle-8 of a song called "I Still Believe In Magic" for Sophie. So that song, again, was presumed to be a part of this album. I remember some fan who received a personal confirmation from Sophie also telling me that a song called Magic will be on the album. This may be the same song.

Inside sources later revealed that Sophie recorded two songs called Still Mixed Up and Music Took My Man (the latter seems to be from the TTLF sessions). The same source later confirmed to me that Sophie was handed a demo of a song called Moving Cities, which didn't get past the demo stage, and the same was the case with a song called Carnival. Rumours sprung up on the internet that Sophie's 4th album won't feature the two songs which were the pioneers for the album. Following the rumours was the anouncement by Freemasons that they would release Heartbreak Make Me A Dancer, not the one which leaked to the internet, but a whole new version of the song.

Sophie had also worked with Junior Caldera during her GH sessions and a song called Can't Fight This Feeling, which was the outcome of the work, leaked onto the internet just a few days ago. This will be Caldera's next single, and not a part of Sophie's album.

Recently, Fascination added a song called Synchronised, co-written with Ina Wroldsen.

Calvin Harris, recently confirmed to a fan of Twitter that he won't release Off & On on his upcoming album. But he didn't mention that the song would still make it onto the final cut of Sophie's album. Hopefully, his other collaboration with her, Calling It Love makes it onto the final tracklist.

This is basically whats been happening from the past few months. Keep your eyes peeled for two releases shortly. Sophie will resume her work when Kit Valentine (her 2nd baby boy) gets back home. We are going to have a few more Rimmel adverts rolling out before Sophie's album comes out.

EDIT - I completely forgot to mention that she has collaborated with Groove Armada, Liam (from Sneaker Pimps), Dimitri (she worked with him on If I Can't Dance) and Greg Alexander (another Murder On The Dancefloor please...), Metronomy, The Hoosiers, Matt Prime etc.,
