Freemasons Launch Party Gig: Sophie horribly out of tune

At the Freemasons album launch party Sophie performed "Heartbreak" promoting the single again. But this time she was completely out of tune and the song sounds horrible. But thankfully, the crowd seemed to enjoy her presence on the stage. Hell, they even sang along with her. Could this be her 2nd Murder On The Dancefloor, in terms of popularity?! Maybe!

Sophie just doesn't seem like the Sophie we know in this pic. She looks so wild. And her nose looks different. I love it. I think this is how the 4th album shoot should be. Stripped down to the basics. Sophie in a white/light grey background...all skin and make up - close up pictures. I keep saying this, and i'm going to keep saying this. Rimmel did a lot of good for Sophie. She is a whole lot wilder than she was before. Oh, and would anyone agree with me if i said Sophie doesn't look like she has aged in 10 years!? She still looks like a 20 year old, forget being a mom of 2! Richard is one lucky guy!

METRONOMY VS. SOPHIE ELLIS-BEXTOR

10 July 2009 - Metronomy main man Joe Mount is turning his production skills to pop, writing a song for Murder On The Dancefloor star Sophie Ellis Bextor.

The band have been slowly building a reputation in their own right, and have also been making an impact on the remix scene taking on the likes of Klaxons, Goldfrapp, Gorillaz, Franz Ferdinand and Kate Nash.

Now Joe has written a track called Scene for Sophie Ellis Bextor's new album, and he told 6 Music how it all came about.

"I had this nice little room in east London and apparently her herself was interested in writing stuff with me."

"Y'know, you never really know what to make of it, you don't know if A+R are involved or whatever, but I think it came from her directly."

So after getting the personal call up, he says it all went smoothly.

"She came and put up with my grotty little room for a few days and we wrote some quite good songs."

"Hopefully that will go on the record and i'll have credits alongside the likes of Calvin Harris and the Freemasons, it's a big step."

Metronomy are curently on tour in Europe and return to the UK for a one off date at the Kentish Town Forum in London on the 18 September.

How long do you think Sophie should wait?

Should Sophie wait till October for her 2nd single? Sure she'd probably want to let MJ's songs rule the charts for a while, cos obviously he deserves it. But does that mean Sophie should all the way till October for the next single? I think that is a bad idea...

Heartbreak (Make Me A Dancer) generated a whole lot of hype for Sophie and she needs to make best use of it. So the song didn't enter the top 10.. but it did still sell a lot of copies which Sophie's singles have failed to achieve in a long long time. So is it really a wise thing to do - wait till October?

Mid-August or Early-September is the perfect time for the next single to come out. She shouldn't wait too long. One more single and then the album by October. And then have singles coming out one after the other.

Meanwhile, whatever happened to her Rimmel campaign? She did sign on for more adverts didn't she?

more details about the 4th album..but still no title!!

Yes! Sophie has still not decided what the album's title is going to be. Lazy?? I think not!! She has been very busy promoting "Heartbreak" and congratulations to her for going #1 on physical sales. However, the single only peaked at #13, which was because of MJ's unforeseen death. I don't blame the single this time. It would have probably just entered the top 10 (#10 or #9) if not for his death. Poor Sophie and Freemasons, they must be heartbroken! But you guys (Sophie and Masons) should know that your song was really well received. Everyone i play the song to loves it. It was a hit for me and all your fans. But that doesn't mean you guys should stop working hard. I say, keep it coming on and on and on and on..lol!

Inside sources (FINALLY!!!!!) confirmed a few details about the album:

1. Yes, she worked with Richard X on a track called "I Still Believe In Magic". Sophie confirmed this title last year to a fan, who was the winner of one of the contests on her official site. Ever since people have been very curious about the sound. Its Richard X, its bound to be a hit...right?? My inside source is not too sure if the song will end up on the album though. Nothing about the quality or sound of the song was revealed. Sophie, if you're reading this, please don't waste any song like you did with the TTLF sessions. Whatever you record, release it. If not on the album, at least as a b-side.

2. "Music Took My Man" exists, and my source is 100% sure about it. In fact, Sophie did another mix of the song for the album, and this time it sounds more electro and dancey. Its supposed to sound very very good. So i'm looking forward to this track. Maybe this becomes her new single in the end...

3. Sometimes its better not to believe the media. The song about the stalker is not called "Another Love". Its called "Hang Up". Thats right. "Hang Up". Makes more sense, now that we know what the correct title is.

4. "Sophia Loren" is never going to be a single! Boo-hoo.... but its going to be on the album, so i can make my peace with it.

5. Her fresh single will be out in October, and her album in November. Sophie is busy finishing the album. In fact, the album will be all done by the end of July. After that its just waiting for the right moment and releasing the album. You ought to know, Sophie is busy working on some new tracks as well, in fact, she is going to be in the studio next week finishing up a few of them.

So be patient. Support Sophie... I have one more thing to say. Sophie, if you're reading this, i have an idea which i think might click for you..

Pre-album EP release.
This thing is really catching on these days. Artists release an EPs, say 3-4 tracks maximum digitally just to get some fresh stuff out to see what the reactions are going to be. Instead of leaking the songs, like what happened last time, this is a better idea. Fascination could cash in on the extra sales that the EP generates. And what should be on the EP?? Not the tracks which are going to be on the album. But alternate versions. Cos fans shouldn't get too bored listening to them. And its not necessary that all 4-5 tracks on the EP should land up on the album. If you (Sophie) are rejecting a song from the album, you might as well put it on the EP. For ex. I Still Believe In Magic could be on the EP.
I made up this tracklist for the EP:
1. Heartbreak Make Me A Dancer - with a double chorus in the end (cos the radio edit is too short)
2. Music Took My Man - pre remix version. The original version which is not electro. So people will know that there's a song, and when they listen to the album, they're going to be surprised to find a different version in there.
3. Sophia Loren - high time you this. Its going to get old soon
4. Off & On - the Calvin Harris Remix
5. I Still Believe In Magic

Thats a short track list, with just the right amount to be revealed. It teases the fans well, and its bound to tempt them to buy it.. Heartbreak will obviously promote the EP among Freemasons fans as well. The older mix of Music Took My Man is just to reveal that there is such a song on the album, but no one will know its going to be remixed for the album. Sophia Loren, because it was out on the Rimmel Advert, and before fans tire of waiting, i think you can treat them with it. And the Calvin Harris remix of Off & On, so thatyou don't give out too much from the album.. I Still Believe In Magic cos it won't end up on the album. It could be like an EP exclusive only, something like that..

Then when the LP album is out, you'll have what 15 tracks, of which 13 will sound brand new and fresh cos only Heartbreak and Sophia Loren would be out there already. Music Took My Man will be different. And Magic won't be on the album. Perfect strategy... don't you think??

But all this should be done before the single gets a release. Like two months before the single comes out. After the EP, you can release one single. Then the LP. Then another single. Then start her tour and release another single and promote that. And after your tour one final single, just to keep the album lasting for a longer time.

Sophie Ellis Bextor regrets buying lots of the clothes in her wardrobe. The 'Murder on the Dancefloor' singer - who has two children Sonny, five, and four-month-old Kit with musician husband Richard Jones - cringes when she looks back at outfits she wore just weeks before. The 30-year-old star said: "I often look at things I wore a month ago and think, 'What was I thinking?' But you can't take it too seriously. Everything I wore when I was pregnant with Sonny was crazy. I had blonde hair, fluorescent red earmuffs, a purple tartan scarf and a baby blue coat. I just looked mad. I said to Richard, 'Why did you let me go out?' and he said, 'I thought it was funny!'"

Sophie is trying to stop buying clothes and accessories online because she is spending hundreds of pounds a month."Nowadays, I mainly buy online. I love Urban Outfitters and Net-a-Porter.com, but I think I need to start calming that down a bit. You go, ‘Wow, £400 for a dress!’ Then you get acclimatised and start thinking, ‘Hmm, £250, that’s not bad.’ But it’s still a lot of money."

Despite being in the public eye for nearly a decade, Sophie claims she’s only just started to develop her own personal style. She explained to Company magazine: "I’ve always loved fashion, but lately I’ve got more confident about pushing the boundaries and realised that style isn’t always about looking pretty, it can be edgy too. I wear vintage and high street. I still have things I bought 10 years ago."

Now that she is in her 30s, Ellis Bextor finds it much easier to look stylish and sophisticated. She explained to Company magazine: "I think 30 can be a really good time for women. You feel much more secure. It's more empowering, sexier. In your 30s, you're more of a woman than a girl, and people take you more seriously."

The singer recently admited that her school days weren’t really the most popular time of her life. It seems that during that time, Sophie Ellis Bextor actually had to deal with the existence of an “Anti Sophie Club”, as she relates: “Was I popular? No, complete opposite. There was an ‘Against Sophie’ club. It’s pretty cruel, but they were interested at first, ‘Oh your mum’s on TV,’ and then it was, ‘Hang on a minute, she’s the only one who’s got that so we can all gang up on her,’ and stuff like that. That was in my infant school so I think I was about five or six. I can’t say it was brilliant, but at the same time I probably was a bit of a show-off about it because I thought it was brilliantly glamorous.” Well, all kids are show-offs at some point or other of their lives… Sophie Ellis Bextor was no exception by the looks of it. Hopefully it hasn’t rubbed off on her adult life… too much.

Sophie Ellis-Bextor thinks her features "floated around" her face until she was 18. The 'Murder on the Dancefloor' singer felt "weird-looking" throughout her childhood and adolescence, and only started to feel comfortable in her own skin when she'd left school. The 30-year-old star explained: "I think when I was about 13 or 14, I felt like this face with all these features just floating around on it, unsure of where to stop. It just wasn't a happy time. I looked weird." Her looks weren't the only thing Sophie had trouble dealing with in her teenage years - she was also socially awkward. She said: "Being a teenager is really hard work. I did have friends, and luckily a lot of my girlfriends now are the same ones I've known since I was 11 and so we've remained pretty close. But teenage years are just awkward. I remember girls around me being slimmer, prettier, and going out with boys. I didn't really feel like I'd found my own space until I was 17 or 18." When it comes to her own children Sonny, five, and Kit, four months, with husband Richard Jones, Sophie just wants them to feel loved. She added to Heat radio: "I just want to give my children a happy childhood really. Their future is not about being my child, is it? It's about doing whatever they want to do."

SOPHIE Ellis Bextor spent ages getting ready - but she still forgot to wear a bra. There was some definite nipple action going on underneath this frilly see-through number. And she told us: "I took more than two hours to get ready and just when I thought I could slip out, I had to read a bedtime story to my little one." We hope she's talking about her son!

updating you (again) about the fourth album...

Everytime i think of the producers for this album i think "oh my god she's got the entire shebang in there"...

She's short of Bloodshy & Avant to make this X (Kylie's album) pt. 2. I do wish for the album to be as creative and bloody entertaining as X or any of her (Sophie) previous albums..

She's been co-writing with Cathy Dennis and Ina Wroldsen (Synchronised) who has also penned songs for Kat DeLuna, The Pussycat Dolls, Lindsay Lohan, Hayden Pannetiere and The Saturdays...

Some really random titles like Immune To Love and In The Name Of Lust had also surfaced, but there was no proof about them, so they were phased out as rumours. One of Sophie's friends said that there would be two songs on the album from the TTLF sessions - Still Mixed Up (not sure if this is a TTLF reject) and Music Took My Man (this definitely is a TTLF reject, i've seen this much before plans of the 4th album came up)

She's in the studio with Biff and Calvin now who are doing the finishing touches for the album. Hopefully it will be done soon, and in two months we should have the second single out.. can't wait!!
