Sophie will be performing songs from Familia soon

Good news for those in the UK. Sophie will be performing between the 8th and 10th of July. It is said that Sophie will be performing some of her new songs there along with her hits. If anyone of you is attending the festival, make sure to take tons of pictures and videos..and leave your review in the comments section.

Sophierazzi is now on Soundcloud as well. I have started with uploading 3 demos including the recent "The Hype" demo, only in much higher quality. You'll notice it sounds a lot less demo-ey.

Bittersweet - The radio response

Okay, i don't know if we should be worried or not, but it seems like the radios aren't supporting her all over again. Someone on PopJustice said:

Now i don't know how radio stations work there, but if requests are allowed, i hope you guys are requesting for the song. Some people say that Radio 1 and Radio 2 are the major stations who have wide audiences, and without their support, it is very difficult to sell a song. Sophie was lucky with Heartbreak, even though Radio 1 didn't support her, she managed to sell in millions, and chart on the higher side of the Top20. But at least Sophie had a whole lot of performances on TV, but so far, i've seen nothing.

A friend of mine told me that Bittersweet is getting played on TV, but it was played late in the night. I haven't seen the video on VH1 or MTV as yet. Again, i don't know if i should be worried, because the single isn't out before May, so there's plenty of time for it to catch on, but can we do something about it?

I'm trying to get the local stations here to playlist the song. Here we can actually head over to the website and request the music manager to playlist a song, and based on the reactions they will continue to play it. If such a policy exists there, i suggest you guys to start requesting..

1. Album out in July... maybe the second single is going to co-incide with the album's release. Well, time will tell.
2. She changed the album title after having a glass of wine with Richard. She named the album after a line from a song she wrote with Ed Harcourt (which i guessed long back) called "Cut Thru' The Heart". The song is going to be on the album, and it's produced by Dimitri (according to ASCAP). Now this changes everything. I'll have to re-work my possible tracklist.
3. And she confirmed "Dial My Number" the stalker song by Liam Howe (again, i guessed that long back)

So far Dimitri/Harcourt, Freemasons/Biffco, Liam Howe, Calvin Harris/Cathy, Richard X/Hannah, Metronomy/Future Cut, Armin Van Buuren/Nervo Sisters and Greg Kurstin have been confirmed by Sophie herself. The other possible collaborators include Christopher Rojas and Fred Ball.

The actual (final) radio edit. Oh. My. God!
1. I love how the riff is neatly hidden behind the verse. I had to turn up the volume, but i'm sure it will be more evident when i listen to it on my iPod.
2. The beginning is absolutely fantastic. Biffco and the Freemasons have nailed it. It's exactly how i wanted it to be.
3. I love how the radio edit is so beefy. It's so full of music and melody and far far far better than that bland Freemasons Extended Mix (which i also love).
4. Some people on PopJustice complained about the middle 8. The middle 8 is there. It's the hook followed by the line "anytime you call my name". The Freemasons Extended Mix uses the second bridge in the middle 8 again.
5. I definitely think the song is top 5 material. *cross my fingers*

Is Sophie crying in the video? I think i saw a tear on her cheek. I can't wait to see this video, and Bittersweet. Junior Caldera looks fit, Sophie looks gorgeous as ever.. Oh and she's wearing 3 outfits in the video! (thanks to BITTERSWEET for the keen observation).

Sophie performed what seems to be her new single live at the iTunes festival. My previous post was about the same song - Starlight, produced by Richard X, co written with him and Hannah Robinson. The song sounds more epic than Heartbreak Make Me A Dancer. If this is the follow up single, then yay!!

EDIT - after watching the performance over 17 times on my computer, i've made up my mind. The song has an amazing chorus!! I'm in love with the middle 8. It sounds very Madonna-esque. And the song is almost 4 minutes! Fulfilling!!! Kudos to Richard X. It sounds like an upbeat ballad, but then again, most of Sophie's songs do. I think she's saying "we beloooooooooong to the starlight starlight starlight". The sound on the recording isn't very clear. I can't wait for an actual HQ recording. It should be aired on the telly soon (maybe tonight), keep your eyes peeled.

EDIT 2 - after watching it again, i think its going to be the New York City Lights of the 4th album. Can't think of a better comparison. Extremely radio friendly, quenches your thirst, gives you everything that you were looking for in the song....

Sophie & Freemasons - Heartbreak (Make Me A Dancer): Track record of the single

Sophie and Freemasons were labelled as a legendary team by many, and despite predictions that the single would go #1, it only peaked at #13 on the UK Singles chart. But this time, i think it wasn't in their hands. MJ's demise had its effect on the charts, the single may have entered the top 10 if not for that unforeseen event.

Anyway, Heartbreak debuted at #164 on the UK Singles chart when it was wrongly released earlier than its due date on June 14th, '09 (due date was 22nd). The single climbed 149 places to reach a position at #15, only counting the iTunes downloads. In the following week the song climbed to #13.

The single sold 40,000 copies and ended up reaching the #1 spot on the UK Physical Sales chart. The song has continued to be on the charts weeks after its release, and surprsingly now has reached #1 on the MTV Dance Chart! Congratulations to Sophie and Freemasons.

The music video was directed by Chris Sweeney and filmed on 21 April 2009. The video was released May 8th and it features Sophie dancing and singing the song in a futuristic setting surrounded by dancers and special effects. The video version of the song differs from the original edit; the breaks between verses are shorter, and the bridge towards the end of the song is quicker and is mixed differently.
